Is there a special type of doctor to see regarding hormone problems?
For about two months now I have been getting my period for two weeks. My face also gets up terribly and I never miss, not even when I get my period. I also experienced terrible mood swings. I eat almost anything and when I do, it’s always healthy. I exercise regularly, but for some reason, I was gaining weight. I think it could be a hormonal problem. I do not know if I should just talk to my doctor or if there is a specialist I should consult. . .
you need to see a gynocologist.
Your gyno is a good first step. If there are issues past common gynocological issues, you may be referred to an endocrinologist. Good luck, I know this isn’t fun.
See your Gyno NOW! The symptoms you have described can be caused by several things. Some of them hormonal. Your Gyno can steer you in the right direction.
Yep, an OB-GYN.
An Endocrinologist deals specifically with the endocrine system. (HORMONES) I’d try to get in to see one over seeing a Gyno. I’d bypass the middleman and head straight to the big gun!
What is the endocrine system?
The endocrine system is a complex group of glands. Glands are organs that make hormones. These are substances that help to control activities in your body. Hormones control reproduction, metabolism (food burning and waste elimination), and growth and development. Hormones also control the way you respond to your surroundings, and they help to provide the proper amount of energy and nutrition your body needs to function. The endocrine glands include the thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, ovaries, testes, adrenal, pituitary and hypothalamus.
What is an endocrinologist?
An endocrinologist is a specially trained doctor. Endocrinologists diagnose diseases that affect your glands. They know how to treat conditions that are often complex and involve many systems within your body. Your primary care doctor refers you to an endocrinologist when you have a problem with your endocrine system.
I have PCOS (hormonal based disease)
I see an Endocrinologist. If you can’t get in to see one, THEN I would suggest seeing a Gyno first for a referral.
